History has been made at the Miss Universe competition which is currently taking place in Israel.
Manar ‘Jess’ Nadeem Deyani, who is representing Bahrain in the beauty pageant, made a strong statement in the swimsuit part of the competition in the preliminary round.
On Friday, Miss Bahrain became the first-ever contestant to appear in the swimsuit round in a fully-covered ensemble, as Jess opted for a flowing activewear jumpsuit.

Discussing the history-making moment, the 25-year-old told The National that the moment was shared “with the millions of women who believe that in this generation the only standard of beauty should be the light that is sparkling from within”.
Jess was also praised on social media by fans of Miss Universe for “breaking stereotypes”.
“I admire her courage and strength, despite all the nasty comments, here she is breaking stereotypes,” one Twitter user said. “Miss Universe is about empowering women no matter what race, religion, language.”
