Emirati fine jewellery designer Salama Khalfan has collaborated with Mouawad to create a one-of-a-kind headpiece.
As a symbol of UAE heritage, the dazzling headpiece features a date palm tree which is a symbol of the country’s long-standing heritage.
Regarded as a symbol of prosperity, dates until today are placed at the epitome of hospitality and have been a source of food and nourishment throughout the history of the UAE.
Adorned with precious gemstones, this extraordinary piece has meaningful associations with the country’s history, to pay an ode to where her inspiration originates from. Salama’s attention to detail is second to none, even in the most intricate pieces.
Known for creating bespoke pieces, that cater to her clientele beyond the Middle East, this most recent partnership incorporates timeless glamour which is still valued over the years.
Fourth-generation Mouawad Co-Guardians Fred, Alain and Pascal Mouawad said, “This collaboration is particularly meaningful, with the design paying tribute to the nature and culture of the Middle East.”
Meanwhile, jewellery designer Salama said, “The way the diamonds are placed in rivulets on the headpiece is inspired by the traditional weaving of dried date palm leaves, while palm leaf motifs are situated on the crown to show the great respect and pride we have in this symbol, which is the essence of so many values we connect within the Gulf.”
The stunning headpiece will be showcased during Abu Dhabi Art between November 17 to 21, 2021 at Manarar Al Saadiyat.
