Q. BEDTIME IS A MISSION IN MY HOUSEHOLD. WHAT DO YOU ADVISE FOR MAINTAINING A ROUTINE?
Bedtime routine is a huge must. It encourages children to know the stages before bed and helps to keep a calm atmosphere for all. Routines should consist of a bath time, time to play and then bed. Allow them to have a warm drink whilst reading stories with you. Tuck them into bed, cuddle then leave the room quietly. Try to use the same words each night, for example: “Good night, sweet dreams see you in the morning.” If they’re persistent with not going to bed stand your ground-use a bedtime sticker chart. Reward them with a star when they go peacefully. Seven stars at the end of the week should result in a small treat. Reward them when good.
