We’re kicking back with the computer and our credit cards to celebrate America’s Independence Day…

… Because any excuse to update that wardrobe, right?

To mark July 4, we’re splashing out on some of our favourite US fashion and beauty brands, all offering shipping to the UAE.

From must-have highlighters to the site that’ll have your perfect summer dress, we’d be surprised if you didn’t do some serious damage to the bank balance after reading the below.

1. Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters

Thought you couldn’t get your hands on the boho high-street brand of choice? Think again. While we might not yet have a physical store here in the Emirates, the US arm of Urban Outfitters ships to the UAE for US$30 (Dhs110). So all those artfully ripped jeans, retro faded tees, and festival-friendly strappy dresses can be yours – plus the site also stocks some higher-end labels and celebrity collabs such as Puma Fenty by Rihanna.

2. Hourglass

This US-born cult beauty brand is available on several e-commerce sites (although we’re lacking a real-life store here in the UAE) but did you know the brand’s own site delivers here too? Hourglass boasts some of the finest highlighters, primers and lip crayons that we’ve ever trialled, and you’ll find the whole range online, including treats like customisable palettes and free samples. Shipping rates depend on the weight and size of your order, but hey, 1,365 blushers probably won’t be that heavy, right?

3. J. Crew

We’re yet to get our own store for the American heavyweight fashion label in the UAE (although rumour has it that could change next year), but for now, you get still get a piece of the range online. J. Crew – which has been donned by everyone from former First Lady Michelle Obama to Lupita Nyong’o and the cast of Gossip Girl – has everything from classic denims and super-slick tailoring to swimwear you’d actually want to wear and Carrie Bradshaw-worthy separates (just check out that tulle skirt for proof). Shipping is Dhs138, with all duties and taxes calculated at checkout. Psst: J.Crew’s slightly more relaxed, beachy, sister label Madewell also now ships to the UAE.

4. Need Supply

This fashion and lifestyle site brings together a host of uber-cool It brands (like Cult Gaia, APC, Acne and so on) with some super affordable Scandi-cool labels like Stelen and Farrow. From Alexa Chung-style tailoring to easy, breezy cotton separates that’ll fuel your holiday wardrobe, we can’t stop ourselves from spending a few hundred dirhams every time we check this site (they also have a very decent sale section too). Shipping to the UAE costs $US25 (Dhs91).

5. Anthropologie

Delivery to the Emirates will set you back US$55 (ouch), but sometimes you’ll be willing to take the sting for that perfect wedding-guest outfit. And occasionwear aside, this is the place to go for prairie-flower printed shirt dresses and embroidered minis Kate Hudson would have proudly sported in Almost Famous. However the store’s stand-out star is its interiors section, which is bursting with tasselled textiles, bucolic wallpapers, and antique-inspired hardware.

6. RMS Beauty

This mineral and coconut oil-based makeup range – the brainchild of makeup artist Rose Marie Swift – is the organic brand of choice for models and Hollywood stars alike. With fans including Miranda Kerr, Kate Bosworth and Gisele, the all-natural range is designed to enhance natural beauty, not mask it. The star product is the Living Luminiser (US$38), an ultra-sheer cream highlighter that’s in the makeup bag of pretty much every Victoria’s Secret model. (And delivery to the UAE is a very reasonable US$12.95).
