Presenting his latest Valentino collection for the first time in Milan, Pierpaolo Piccioli wanted to show support for the Italian fashion industry and pay tribute to the brand’s identity.

All of the familiar couture-level codes were present – from romantic lace to delicate embroidery – but everything felt a little bit more wearable and very now.

“Romanticism is first and foremost a gaze on things and life, not on a set of rules,” explains the press release. “The individual vision of Pierpaolo Piccioli touches the individual spirit of each person, and what comes out of it is a suggestion of what Valentino can be now, following another perspective. It is about the values that make an ever-evolving identity, not the aesthetic that solidifies it.”

There is a balance of masculine and feminine as seen through chiffon blouses, loose blazers, fluid gowns and mini dresses. Fans of the floral print will love the vibrant blooms that adorned floor-length dresses that almost took flight with every step, while denim lovers will be eagerly awaiting Piccioli’s take on the classic Levi’s® 1969 – 517 boot cut jeans – the iconic Levi’s® style born in a time of ultimate self-expression, made popular in the late 1960s. Available from spring next year, each of the styles will feature a special tag designed to celebrate the collaboration.

For bags and shoes, you can look forward to seeing the chunkier interpretation of the Valentino Rockstud across shoes and bags as well as oversized fringed tote bags, 3D flower shoulder bags and angular sunglasses.
