This is going to be AMAZING…
We were super excited to hear that the Louvre Abu Dhabi is opening in November – and now the UAE is getting another slice of Europe.
It’s just been announced that a floating resort inspired by the canals of Venice is being built near the World Islands off the coast of Dubai.
It will be called The Floating Venice, and promises to bring “an authentic Venetian experience to the Middle East”.
The main section will be modelled on Venice’s famous square, Piazza San Marco.

The Dhs2.5 billion project is described as “the world’s first luxury underwater vessel resort” (basically, the resort will be housed on a huge ship that will stay in one place all the time, like an island).
It will be spread over four levels, one of which will be below the sea.
Guests will be able to arrive by boat, seaplane, or helicopter, and check into the hotel using the underwater lobby.
In true Venetian style there will be gondolas, which will ferry guests to their cabins via canals.
The resort will have 24 pools, and some will have transparent bases to give swimmers a view of the sea life below.
There will also be 12 floating beaches, two beach clubs, and an underwater spa.
It sounds like it’s going to be a foodie paradise, too. There will be a total of 12 restaurants and bars, including traditional bacari bars serving Venetian-style snacks and wine.
So, when can we visit? The Floating Venice is scheduled to open by the end of 2020, which gives us just enough time to start saving our pennies for an overnight stay…
