According to virtually every tabloid and celebrity rag going, music moguls Beyonce and Jay-Z are on the rocks, in spite of what their Instagram images might try to portray.
It seems every time a media source comes forward about more evidence of a split, mega star Beyonce goes on the defence, posting an image on Instagram to try and counteract the accusations. The most recent is an adorable image of Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy with Beyonce commenting: “My favourite hue is Jay-Z Blue.”
However, no amount of cutesy images will stop the rumour mill that suggests the couple will split after their On The Run tour, on which they are allegedly travelling with marriage counsellors.
Talk of the couple splitting is nothing new – heck, what celebrity couple hasn’t had the headline ‘on the rocks’ even when they are in their honeymoon period? – but stories of a divorce have escalated after the infamous Solange lift attack.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six the fight was actually over Rihanna, who is Jay-Z’s protégé and who has been linked to the star in the past. “Solange was like, ‘Enough is enough – you must be [sleeping with] Rihanna,’” said the insider, who added: “Too many people who know them, they know it’s not out of the realm of possibility.”
The paper went on to suggest the couple have stayed together due to their business, stating: “There’s face-saving involved – they don’t want to be looked at like other celebrities out there. They are business people first, entertainers second. Husband and wife comes somewhere down the line.”
It is alleged there has always been some rivalry between Beyonce and Rihanna. When asked about the Barbados-born singer back in 2011, Beyonce said, cryptically, in an interview with Complex magazine: “There is room on this earth for many queens. I have an authentic, God-given talent, drive, and longevity that will always separate me from everyone else. I’ve been fortunate to accomplish things that the younger generation of queens dream of accomplishing. I have no desire for anyone else’s throne. I am very comfortable in the throne I’ve been building for the past 15 years.”

While she may be prolific in updating her Instagram to portray an idyllic lifestyle, Beyonce hasn’t helped the rumours. Recent images show the Crazy In Love singer has been getting laser treatment to removed the IV tattoo on her ring finger. The numerals signify her and her husband’s birth dates as well as their wedding date.
The 32-year-old beauty has also changed lyrics to her song Resentment on her current tour. The usual lyrics go: “Like I couldn’t do it for you like your mistress could/Been ridin’ with you for six years.” However, Beyonce changed “mistress” to “wack b****” and “six years” to “12 years,” the amount of years she has been with Jay-Z.
The New York Post also reported that the former Destiny’s Child singer has been house hunting without her husband, alleging that she toured a US$21.5 million penthouse in New York’s Chelsea area “on the sly.” Insiders claim, Jay’Z’s absence is very telling as it is he who apparently has a huge role in their real estate searches.
While rumours continue to get bigger and wilder, Beyonce and Jay-Z have yet to comment on the situation.
The New York Post source added: “They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing. This is a huge concert tour and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters upfront.”
