And yes, some Middle Eastern labels made an appearance.
With awards season in full swing, our attention has mostly been diverted to the red carpets of galas, ceremonies and trophy-givings.
However one movie premiere really stole the sartorial show this week (well, Grammys aside, because we all love a good dose of Beyoncé).

Black Panther, the latest installment in the Marvel Universe film series, held its LA premiere in the States on Monday night—and the pictures are making us want to ditch our usual wardrobe of black, white and grey.
Lupita Nyong’o, who plays one of the film’s lead characters Nakia, floated down the red carpet in a rich purple gown, custom-made for the star by Atelier Versace.
With an ornate bejewelled harness, that added a glamorously powerful edge to the ethereal floor-sweeper, Academy Award-winner Nyong’o truly commanded the cameras’ attention.
Also embracing colour on the night was co-star Angela Bassett, who donned a fringed marigold jumpsuit by Naeem Khan.
The Mumbai-born designer, who is a favourite of Jordan’s Queen Noor, really dialled up the drama in the fluid one-piece, which also featured a structured shoulder-hugging neckline. (The bold hammered jewellery made the perfect accoutrement, too).
Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson, however, opted for a design created a little closer to home, wearing an embellished Elie Saab tunic.
Worn over tailored cigarette trousers and a strappy camisole, the gossamer-thin number was rich in gothic drama (and we do adore an outfit that means you can go from top-and-trousers to after-dark party within seconds).
We’re now going off to Google sheer capes all afternoon, so we’ll leave you with the best of the rest from the Black Panther premiere (the film comes out in the UAE on February 15, FYI)…
