A new virtual space to find luxury Muslim-friendly fashion has just launched.

The days of trawling through pages and pages of clothes to find something a little more covered up are soon to be long gone.

Why, you ask? Well, as of today, there’s a new online shop solely dedicated to high-end modest fashion.

Named The Modist, the brand-new e-tailer is “dedicated to women who dress to express their style in a contemporary, fashionable yet modest manner”, according to a statement.

The site is the brainchild of its CEO, Ghizlan Guenez, who wanted to give women of different faiths, cultures and ethnicities the ability to shop with ease.

“Our mission is to build a strong sense of purpose to empower a woman’s freedom of choice and to acknowledge how similar women across the world are, despite our diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles –  a relevant conversation at this time” said Guenez.

“We aim to break down pre-conceived notions while building a community and dialogue that invigorates, informs and celebrates the fashionable, modern, modest woman.”

And given that the fastest growing global consumer at the moment is the Muslim market, it’s a smart business move.

In fact, according to the 2015-2016 State of the Global Islamic Economy Report, Muslim shoppers spend an estimated US$230 billion a year on clothes – and that’s expected to rise to US$484 billion in 2019 according to The Modist’s COO, Lisa Bridgett.

“Our goal is to provide a one-stop, immersive content and shopping destination for the global luxury modest consumer whom we know and herald,” she said.

So, what does The Modist offer? Well, it’s launched with 75 cherry-picked womenswear and accessory brands, including Marni, Alberta Ferretti, Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou.

The site will have offices in Dubai and London, and currently offers shipping to 100 countries.
