Here’s something we don’t see every day…
Do you wanna build a snowman? It’s not a line you hear in Dubai very often, let alone in the middle of summer. But someone has gone and done exactly that… and we think Olaf from Frozen would be proud.
To mark the anniversary of the hottest day ever recorded in the UAE (52.1 degrees Celsius on July 30, 2002, FYI), The Heart of Europe on The World Islands has created Dubai’s first summer snowman.
The World Islands is located about 4.5 kilometres off the coast of Dubai. The archipelago, which consists of 300 small islands in the shape of a world map, is 9km wide, 7km long, and visible from space.

It’s also where Lindsay Lohan is working on a series of luxury developments – in May, the star told Emirates Woman of her plans to take over both Lebanon Island and Thailand Island. Her beach club on Lebanon Island is expected to open later this year.
The Heart of Europe is a cluster of six islands, each inspired by a different European destination – Germany, Monaco, Switzerland, St. Petersburg and Sweden. It will be home to luxury hotels, floating seahorse villas, and a floating resort inspired by Venice.
In an attempt to recreate European winters, Switzerland Island will feature a series of temperature-controlled streets that will allow snow to fall in the middle of summer.
This should all be finished by 2020. We’re already dreaming of a white Christmas in Dubai…
