“She’s one of those female icons that you know could be a strong idol for young girls around the world.”
Getting married to perhaps the most eligible bachelor in the world has, expectedly, opened up Meghan Markle to scathing criticism.
Even in the face of that scrutiny, though, she stays real, according to close friend Priyanka Chopra.

Speaking on the Rachel Ray Show this week, Chopra once again spent much of her time explaining that Markle is still “such a girl’s girl.”
She revealed that even though Markle has much to attend to in the final days leading up to her wedding later this month to Britain’s Prince Harry, she still makes it a point to text and keep in touch.
“I’m so happy for everything that’s happened to her because I really feel like she’s one of those female icons that you know could be a strong idol for young girls around the world because she really cares about the world.”
Chopra also revealed the ways Markle and herself deal with criticism. And rather than making snarky comments aimed at their detractors or dwelling on the negativity, both of them choose instead to remind themselves of their respective accomplishments.

The Quantico star also took the time to explain why she thinks Markle would be able to leverage her celebrity to really make a difference.
“I think she was born to be a global influencer, and this has given her the opportunity to do that,” she said.
“Because she’s always someone who is so, just, aware, and interested in the world.”
In fact, Chopra added that it was this desire to contribute and work in favour of the public that really drew her and Markle together and strengthened their bond. Birds of a feather, we say.
Markle and Chopra have been friends for the last three years after meeting at the Elle Women in Television dinner.
You might remember Chopra’s recent tribute to Markle who was named as the Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people where she went on to refer to the 36-year-old Suits star as the “princess for the people.”
Markle will wed Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19.
