We’re almost a little overwhelmed…

The Cannes Film Festival is always home to some of the best red carpet looks of the year—there’s something about that south of France sea air that really makes people bring their A game.

Over the last few days, though, it’s gone to another level. Think unprecedented levels of glam from Zuhair Murad; think Helen Mirren looking like actual royalty in Elie Saab.

Elie Saab

You see what we mean? This blue velvet haute couture gown from Lebanon’s Elie Saab suits Dame Helen Mirren from its elegant neckline down to the ground.

We love the panelling, the sleeves, and her rather jaw-dropping jewels. Mirren looks like a medieval queen, but for 2018. A smash hit.

Also looking impeccable in Saab is model Lori Harvey. With pared-back hair and makeup, Harvey lets her lace gown and cape do the talking. Lovely.

Fellow model Nieves Alvarez opted for Saab as well, to great effect. We love the modern, playful embellishment on this gown—and the black belt.

And for classic black, you can’t go wrong with these two looks on Petra Nemcova and Clotilde Courau. Timeless beauties.

Ashi Studio

Deepika Padukone

Sometimes you’ve just got to turn it up to 11. Indian actress Deepika Padukone turned to Lebanese house Ashi Studio for this hot pink frothy gown, and we’re so glad she did.

It’s a major moment.

Speaking of drama, Ashi Studio also dressed Thai actress Araya Hargate in this angelic feathered gown. Please note the emeralds—not that you could have missed them.

Zuhair Murad

Elsewhere at Cannes, Padukone opted for Zuhair Murad. This sheer, body-conscious gown is actually from the label’s bridal collection. We love her long, smooth waves, as well.

Pale tones were obviously the order of the event for Murad. Here’s actress Aja King living her best life in a silver sheath gown with a metallic belt and geometric beading. Love.

English star Cheryl Cole went for a romantic, bohemian look in this tiered Murad design.

And then here’s Victoria’s Secret angel Jasmine Tookes in a black A-line gown with long sleeves and cutouts. We’re loving her sleek hair and that orange lip.

Also sporting Murad was Portuguese model Sara Sampaio in this off-the-shoulder stunner. We love the precise beading and that dusky nude shade.

To finish up our Murad selection, here’s Jordanian lawyer and journalist Ola Al Fares in gold. Outstanding.

Georges Hobeika

The rich purple of this strapless gown from Lebanese designer Georges Hobeika is an absolute stunner. Actress Celina Jade, who’s from the US and Hong Kong, looks like a total movie star.

Model Josephine Skriver went for this Grecian one-shoulder gown from Hobeika. Gorgeous.

This might be our first introduction to Icelandic actress Maria Thelma, but if she keeps wearing gowns like this, we’re sure she’ll become a red carpet regular. Her Hobeika look featured a full tulle skirt and icy embroidery.

Last up, but never least, is socialite Lala Rudge in a beaded fishtail gown from Hobeika featuring cap sleeves and a V neck. Amazing.

That’s it for now, but Cannes runs until May 19. We’ll keep you posted…
