Middle Eastern Designers Hit Fashion High Notes At The Billboard Awards
Michael Cinco and Zuhair Murad make the best-dressed lists with their creations…
The 2017 Billboard Music Awards were full of fashion highs – and a few lows – when they took place in the US on Sunday night.
However two of the event’s most stand-out looks came from a little closer to home – one via Dubai, in fact.
UAE-based designer Michael Cinco dressed rap star Nicki Minaj in a shimmery black mini, which the star wore while joining Drake onstage as he collected his Top Artist award.
The couture number featured a demure high neck and long sleeves, with a beaded hemline providing plenty of movement.
Cinco, who is originally from the Philippines but is based in Dubai, has been on a bit of a roll this week, giving Bollywood legend Aishwarya Rai a Cinderella moment in a billowing blue gown at the Cannes Film Festival.
However Cinco wasn’t the only designer from the Middle East making a splash on the Billboard red (well, pink) carpet.
Lebanese label Zuhair Murad dressed Pearl Harbour star Kate Beckinsale in a plunging floor-length gown for her arrival at the awards.
Featuring spectacular firework-inspired embellishments, the sheer number had us reminiscing about our favourite Van Gogh work of art.
The British actress wore a gown from the label’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Murad later revealed on Instagram.
“There were fireworks in #Vegas yesterday night!” the brand captioned an image of Beckinsale, who presented an award on the night.
