Her first performance in the Kingdom

American singer, Mariah Carey, is set to take the stage at King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, January 31. The concert is part of the country’s first international golf tournament.

The golf tournament is part of the European Tour, and will take place between Jan 31 and Feb 3 at the Royal Greens G&CC. The four-day sporting event will hosts two concerts, on Thursday and Friday. The pop-diva will be accompanied by Dutch DJ Tiesto on the first night. Meanwhile, the Friday show will feature Yemeni-Emirati singer Balqees Fathi, and Jamaican rapper Sean Paul.

Balqees took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, in a post which she captioned, “I am honored to meet you in the city of King Abdullah, in the beloved city of Jeddah, in a huge and international concert with A-list international artists.”

Over the past few years, Saudi Arbia has been opening its doors to international stars, which is unprecedented in the country’s history. Back in January 2017, Jeddah held its first concert in seven years, featuring Saudi singers Mohammed Abdu, and Rabeh Sager and Iraqi-Saudi singer Majid Al-Muhandis.

Ever since then, several singers took the stage in Saudi Arabia. Just last month, chart-toppers including Enrique Iglesias, the Black Eyed Peas, Jason Derulo, and David Guetta performed at the three-day musical event during Saudi’s first Ad Diriyah E-Prix in Riyadh.
