Rhea Jacobs beat more than 100,000 hopefuls to her role with the designer’s beauty brand.

She could hardly believe it when she was announced as a new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty last year.

And now Rhea Jacobs has seen her dreams come true, as her first collaboration with the luxury beauty brand has landed online.

There’s about to be a new way of shopping in the UAE and beyond…

In April, the Dubai-based content creator beat out more than 100,000 applicants in the #CastMeMarc competition, which invites hopefuls from around the world to model in the brand’s latest campaigns.

“There were 104,000 applicants and all were well-known social media bloggers, and yet me, with just 1,000 followers, decided to take part,” Jacobs told EmiratesWoman.com at the time.

The 24-year-old ended up winning one of five places to represent Marc Jacobs Beauty on a global scale, and her first video with the brand was unveiled last week.

In the short clip posted on the Marc Jacobs Beauty channels, Jacobs reveals that despite her artistry with cosmetics, she was not allowed to wear makeup until she was 18.

“In school, everyone had to wear the same clothes, and we had to have our head tied back, no nail polish, no eyeliner,” she states.

“We’d try to paint our nails and hide it from our teachers. They’d call my mum, and I love her because she’d always say: ‘Yeah, she loves fashion, she loves beauty.'”

Jacobs will be creating content with the beauty brand throughout 2018, promising in the video to show viewers how to master eyeliner, contour, and eyebrows.

“Everything that comes to eyeliner—how to do it, how to make it even, everything—I got you covered.”

The blogger also revealed her shock and awe at being selected for the campaign, adding: “Marc Jacobs knows who I am; that means the world to me.”

Jacobs was selected by Marc Jacobs himself, the brand revealed on their social media feed, and the blogger got to meet the designer in New York last year.

“We met Marc Jacobs at his headquarters and were all in utter awe of being in the presence of such a great visionary and fashion mogul,” Jacobs, who is also collaborating with upcoming e-commerce launch Nisnass, told us.

“It was uplifting to see the kindness and humility he showed each and every one of us. It’s no surprise that he’s a very busy man… but despite all the work and meetings, he made time to meet us and thank us for coming and being a part of the campaign.”

We can’t wait to see what else she’s got in store with the brand this year…
