What is love?
With almost 13 years of modeling under her belt, and two British Fashion Awards ‘Model of the Year’ wins, Jourdan Dunn has established herself as one of the fashion industry’s top models.

The British model was first discovered back in 2006, when she was just 15-years-old. She was scouted by an agent from Storm Model Management, while out with a friend at Primark in London. She took to the runway for the first time in early 2007, walking for high-end brands like Marc Jacobs, and Ralph Lauren.
February of 2008 marked a milestone for both Dunn and the fashion industry, as she became first black model to walk Prada’s runway in over a decade. It was then that her career really started taking off, with her being the new face of diversity in the modeling world. Her ethnicity became a big-part of her career – she became recognized as one of the few and at times only black model walking the runway. In 2014, she was part of Forbes’ list of highest-earning models, making her the first black British model to make the list. Dunn hails from a diverse background, as she is from Jamaican, Grenadian, and Syrian descent.
The model’s career kept rising to new highs, as she walked for the industry’s biggest designers, and was part of 75 shows during spring/summer 2008 season. However, it all had to take a back seat in 2009, when Dunn, who was 19 at that time, was 6-months pregnant and couldn’t fit into any of the clothes. It was ten weeks after giving birth when the supermodel returned to the runway, just in time for London Fashion Week. This time around though, she was motivated by something else, or better yet someone else – her son Riley, who pushed her to be more hard-working.
The 28-year-old’s relationship with her son is one of the main reasons why we picked her to be the cover star of our February “What is Love” issue. Just mere hours before our shoot with the British beauty, she was posting heartwarming videos of her dancing with her 9-year-old son. There truly is nothing deeper and purer than a bond between a mother and her child.
