Looking for a destination to get away for the Eid break? Here’s some inspiration.

It seems like our (and most likely yours, too) Instagram feed is perpetually flooded with images of friends visiting Georgia.

Well, if you’re after the European experience, but need somewhere as far away as possible from the usual tourist traps, have you ever considered Estonia?

Well, neither had we. Or not at least until when we saw this image of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on a cycling trip of Estonia.

The royal is known to be a fierce advocate of keeping fit and high-adrenaline activities which includes everything from skydiving to freediving.

The fact that he’s chosen to go cycling in the middle of Ramadan, the Holy Month of fasting, attests to his incredible reserves of energy and stamina too.

We don’t know exactly where in Estonia this is photographed, but we believe that bike tours are a big thing in this country which was one of the first to announce its sovereignty and independence from the USSR.

We can see the royal looking out at a cruise ship on the horizon. A quick search on Tripadvisor shows that this could potentially be the 3-hour Tallinn Bike Tour from Tallinn Cruise Port which is very popular among tourists.

Then again, the trailblazing crown prince could have charted his very own route. A fan account on Instagram shows that he is cycling in Estonia along with this friend Saeed Jabber Al Harbi.

Interestingly, another post that went up on that same page a little over an hour ago is wishing HH Sheikh Hamdan and the UAE team all the best for the upcoming horseracing 160km Estonia Endurance Race.

Estonia, located along the Gulf of Finland, has recently moved towards promoting itself here in Dubai. Earlier this month, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced plans for the opening of the Enterprise Estonia representative office in Dubai before the year-end. Enterprise Estonia is a state-run trade and investment promotion agency.

Last year, a Tallinn-based company Nortal was reportedly lending its expertise to helping Dubai become a paperless government by 2021.

Apart from cycling tours, you could also visit the UNESCO-graded Old Town in the historic centre in Tallinn. Remember to feast on your fill of piroshky pies and chicken kiev when you visit too.

If you’ve been looking for inspiration for your Eid break that’s now a fortnight away, you’ve now got some direction thanks to HH Sheikh Hamdan.
