All aboard, beauties.
Chanel are famed for their theatrical runway shows—previous seasons have been set in airport terminals and casinos—but this one is on another level.
Over the weekend in Paris, the French fashion house showed their 2018/19 cruise collection on a specially constructed cruise ship set inside the Grand Palais.
And you’ll be thrilled to hear that half-Palestinian supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid were on hand to help out.

The clothes are gorgeous, of course. Think 1960s silhouettes and the nautical accents the setting suggests. We’re in dire need of a pair of the breezy striped sailor trousers designer Karl Lagerfeld sent several models out in, plus one of the heavy life-saver necklaces seen on a few.
Elder sister Gigi, 23, stepped out in a silver bouclé skirt suit, complete with matching bag and beret.
We’re very much into the beauty look, too. That graphic navy eye shadow is begging to be recreated for a night out ASAP.
And here’s her sister…
Amazing. The younger Hadid wore a navy suit with black leather accents and wide-legged trousers. Please note the pearl belt.
Really though, this set needs to be seen to be believed. The show itself took place outside the ship, before the 1,000 guests filed in for the after-party.
Named for Coco Chanel’s villa in the south of France, the ship was set against a night sky backdrop. WWD reports that smoke and the sound of seagulls, creaking ropes and fog horns filled the air.
Here’s a look at the show’s finale…
…Which also gives some sense of the scale of the good ship La Pausa. Lagerfeld really did build a cruise ship inside the exhibition hall.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to investigate modern-day cruise options. And clear out our wardrobes.
