The Woolmark Prize event took place in London last night.

We have a feeling that you’ll be hearing a lot more from Colovos in the next few months.

A New York based label, founded by husband and wife team Michael and Nicole Colovos, was awarded an International Woolmark Prize for womenswear – a prestigious award previously won by the likes of  Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, and Ralph Lauren.

The pair were presented the award by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, while the menswear title went to Edward Crutchley, presented by actor Colin Firth.

So what do you need to know about Colovos?

Denim Love

First, they know their denim. In fact they have 17 years experience of working with it and it is still at the core of their creative process – so if you’ve been looking for a new pair of jeans, Colovos has you covered.

Sustainability

They work with 100 percent cotton denim that they source from a small mill in Japan. Not only that, they use natural resin to make chemical-free washes and focus on creating collections that have lasting power.

Winning collection

Their modern approach transcends trends, designed to slip into your wardrobe and remain there for years to come. Last night they showed a collection inspired by denim but made with wool. A twist on a fabric that has long been associated with sharp tailoring, but reimagined into something you can wear every day.
