beyonce x topshop

The queen of pop, Beyoncé, and our favourite high street fashion house Topshop are teaming up to create Parkwood TopShop Athletic Ltd, a global athletic street wear brand for 2015.This could be the most exciting news of the year, Beyoncé and Topshop owner Sir Philip Green have sent the fashion world into a frenzy with the announcement that they are to launch a new company together.  With 17 Grammy’s under her belt as well as countless endorsements and a successful foray into the fragrance business, it was only a matter of time before Queen Bey, who ranked number one in the Forbes’ 100 list, broke into the retail game with one of her favourite stores, too. Speaking of the partnership Phillip Green said: “We have been looking at this category as fashion-inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers’ heartland. Creating a partnership with Beyoncé, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category.”

The 50-50 partnership will be produced under the company name Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. (Parkwood is the Houston neighbourhood in which the singer grew up) and will include clothing, footwear and accessories. Aiming to fuse fashion and technical performance, the company will produce super-stylish ranges for dance, fitness and sports which will be sold at Topshop stores from Autumn 2015.

It seems Beyoncé’s love affair with Topshop is equally as strong as ours, speaking of the business venture the mum-of-one and wife to rapper Jay-Z said: “I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business. I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking. Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion led collection is exciting and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”

Philip Green was also keen to distinguish this venture from other high-profile celebrity collections on the market, noting that this is a “partnership” rather than a conventional collaboration. All we’re saying is what could be better than Beyoncé?
