Proof that covering up most definitely doesn’t have to compromise on style…
A new fashion week event is going to wreak havoc on our credit cards, we can just tell.
The first-ever London Modest Fashion Week took in the British capital over the weekend, and the looks sent down the catwalk have us reaching for our wallets as we virtual window shop.
From embroidered abayas to power suits and sleek evening gowns, the two-day affair showcased collections from more than 40 global designers.

A crisp shirt-dress over skinny metallic pants is going to be a new Sunday-Thursday go-to for us.
Rouge Couture
We could really use this leather-fringed jacket right about now in Dubai… where’s our sunny 27 degrees gone?
Feradje
This floral embroidered abaya just sings of spring, with its ethereal fabric and bucolic embellishments.
Avayaana
This diaphanous creation puts a twist on your typical LBD, with the jacquard tiering adding extra interest.
Amirab
We’re eyeing up this sheeny, silky number – which ripples like a dream in motion – for this year’s Emirates Woman awards… The navy sleeves stop it looking too bridal, while the printed headscarf adds a ’70s twist.
Sakura Malaysia
We need this velvet jumpsuit in our lives, stat.
Sahee London
Another Emirates Woman Woman of the Year awards option comes courtesy of this shimmering scarlet gown. The spiderweb-style embellishment and faux fur stole feels very Old Hollywood (we could even imagine Natalie Portman or someone of the like slaying in this at the Oscars).
Syomir Izwa Gupta
The slouchiness of this sky-blue jumpsuit paired with the prim-and-proper, Mad Men-esque pussybow is a marriage made in fashion heaven.
The Empire Studio
Something about the T-shirt style bodice and contrasting turban makes this baby-pink number feel super-fresh rather than saccharine sweet.
Rebecca Kellett
We’re getting major Thelma and Louise vibes from the retro sunnies and scarf combo – and that’s always a good thing. The patchwork of lace and encrusted gems is also inspired; it’s mesmerising without being off-puttingly busy.
Betty Hammouda
We’ve wanted an oversized floral coat ever since the original Sex And The City movie (remember Carrie’s short-sleeved cream and green version?)… and this definitely fits the bill. The voluminous sleeves are a particular highlight.
Art Of Heritage
The vibrant flame hue is a real stunner, especially when cast in delicate chiffon.
