Paris Haute Couture week is going to look very different this July.
While previously the streets of Paris were filled with fabulously dressed people coming to see the most acclaimed shows on the calendar, this season the focus is on virtual presentations due to the ongoing global pandemic.
Even though the theatrical aspect of shows will not be possible, you can expect plenty of creativity and drama happening digitally. The Creative Director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, has planned two separate concepts for the brands latest couture collection.
The first is created in collaboration with fashion photographer and founder of SHOWstudio.com Nick Knight and will take the online experience to a whole new level. Scheduled for July 8, it will merge the human and digital worlds “creating a bond that is the legacy of the re-birth period we are experiencing. The limits that we are living need to be transcended through grace and lightness,” explains the press release.
It will unveil the inspiration for the Live Performance that will take place in Rome on July 21 at Cinecittà Studios in front of editors based in Italy, who will abide by strict social distancing rules. It will also be available to view online.
Piccioli was already working on a concept that merges the digital and the human worlds before the pandemic hit, and now has two unique ways to celebrate the finest craftsmanship of the Maison.
