We might be getting a five-day weekend, but there’s another reason to celebrate thanks to an extra day of free car parking on offer in Dubai over the Eid Al Adha holiday.

That’s right, you’ll be able to park your motor around town for absolutely nothing for six days, the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.

The period of exemption will take place from Sunday 11 September to Friday 16 September, while the private sector holidays are from Friday 9 September to Tuesday 13 September.

Office workers will return back to work on Wednesday 14 September – unless you work in the public sector.

Public sector and government workers are getting a full week off for Eid, and not returning to the office until Sunday 18 September – meaning they get nine whole days off in a row, when you take weekends into account.

So while private sector workers still have to trek into the office for two days next week, and least you’ll be able to park guilt-free.

There are some exceptions though – charges still apply at Deira Fish Market and multi-level car park buildings throughout the holidays.
