As the year draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the good, the bad… and the fashionable.
2016 has been a mixed bag of events but one thing’s for certain – the style stars of the Middle East have given us plenty of wardrobe inspiration to take into 2017.
Case in point? HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, who may not step out in front of the cameras too often, but makes one heck of a sartorial statement when she does.
So on that note, let’s have a look at the royal’s most regal outfits from the last 12 months…

HRH opted for an elegant, embroidered ivory number for a meeting with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, that felt fresh, not too formal, but still stately.
Electric blue with a vibrant pop of red lippie is a colour pairing Princess Haya works like no other.
This bucolic, sweeping gown feels medievally romantic and modernly featherlight all at once. The delicate gauze of the gentle fishtail is a particular highlight.
This patchwork-inspired dress won us over with its rich, earthy tones and artfully clashing prints.
Proving tone-on-tone looks aren’t always bland, the royal stood out from the sedate greys and blacks that dominate the Ascot crowds by pairing an Elizabeth Taylor-esque scarlet dress with a matching hat, peep-toe pumps, and lippie. Fiery, dramatic, but still super classy.
HRH schools us in mastering bold prints – but the best accessory is her easy smile as she shares a joke with her brother King Abdullah of Jordan.
She’s truly the ruler of floor-length embellished gowns – and this lemony-yellow one might be our favourite.
Anyone who thinks all-black is a boring choice for a big event, take note, because here’s the princess effortlessly proving otherwise. In a sea of grey suits, HRH added a much-needed dose of glam by pairing her timeless, 1940s-inspired LBD with a whimsical feather-topped number for a look that feels both refined and full of fun.
So chic, so sleek, and something you need the poise of a royal to pull off (we’d have covered that in a Jackson Pollock-style sprawl of ink stains in about 10 seconds flat).
While HRH’s opulent gowns and dignified shift dresses never fail to wow us, our No 1 look from the princess must surely be the casual jeans and khaki vest she donned here. Yes, partly because it’s always refreshing to see a royal in weekend wear, but mostly because of the cause, as Princess Haya pulled on the comfy outfit to personally deliver emergency aid to Haiti after this year’s cyclone.
