Another world record
The UAE, and specifically Dubai, are used to making and breaking world records. Since the Emirate is considered as a leading fashion hub in the region, it comes as no surprise that it now houses the world’s most expensive shoes.
On Friday, shoes worth Dhs73 million ($19.9 million) were unveiled at the Dubai Marina. This extravagant design was created by Italian designer, Antonio Vietri. The shoes, which has been dubbed as ‘The Moon Star Shoes’ were part of the MIDE (Made in Italy, Designed in Emirates) Fashion Week.

Wondering what makes these stilettos so expensive? Not only are they made from solid gold with heels that hold 30 carats of diamonds, the multi-million heels also contain a small piece of meteorite discovered in Argentina in 1576. The Moon Star shoes easily break the Guinness World Record, valued at $15.5 million dollars.
Breaking records is not new to Dubai, which is home to lots of sparkly things. Earlier this year, The Spirit of Dubai Parfums by Nabeel, one of the most respected and luxurious brands in the UAE, unveiled a new unisex scent. This was the world’s introduction to Shumukh, an Dhs4.752 million perfume bottle.

Three years in the making, Shumukh is designed to last on the skin for more than 12 hours and on fabric for up to 30 days. The bottle turned heads and broke records since it is made of 18-karat gold that weighs more than two kilos. Moreover, it measures at 1.97 meters tall, with an addition of five kilos of pure silver, 3,500 diamonds, topaz, and pearls.
