Ladies, start your engines: the UAE’s first and only auto-training workshop for women is coming to Dubai on February 18.

If you’ve ever heard the grind of a flat tyre and immediately broken out in a cold sweat because you’re all alone or if you’ve read the statistic that women are routinely quoted higher prices than their male counterparts for straightforward fixes, this class will leave you feeling more empowered and confident on the road.

In an interactive and fun women-only environment on February 18, you will take a hands-on approach to learning about auto mechanics and car maintenance. The first-of-its-kind workshop will be from 10:30am – 12:30pm at Hammerhead’s Garage, Al Quoz.

Recent surveys have shown that ‘information asymmetry’ is the main reason why auto shops may sometimes overcharge customers. The less someone knows about auto mechanics then the more likely they are to be cited higher prices for services and unfortunately, women are much more susceptible as they tend to have less knowledge regarding their own vehicles.

With that in mind, women-orientated workshops have been gaining popularity around the world, finally brought to Dubai by the team at Hammerhead’s Garage. The event aims to empower women to feel more comfortable behind the wheel, more confident to deal with breakdowns and with the ability to get things fixed independently and for the correct price.
