With pieces picked up from all over the world, it’s no wonder this closet’s bulging with eclectic finds…

Who: Zoe Onions
Nationality: British
Profession: Peonica London founder and designer

Zoe first came onto our radar just over two years ago when we stumbled across her Chanel and Gucci-filled Instagram. Following her Tokyo and Paris jaunts, it became pretty obvious that this girl had style in spades. Not only that, but she has also graced the fashion world with newly-launched luxury handbag brand Peonica London – already stocked in boutiques in St. Barth’s, naturally.

The walls of her Dubai home are lined with Jean-Michel Basquiat prints, a Jeff Koons balloon dog figurine lives on a side table and an original Allen Jones sculpture stands in the hallway. And that’s all before we even get to her wardrobe. She bought ‘that’ Self Portrait dress before Gigi Hadid and Olivia Palermo wore it and has more Chanel than you can shake a 2.55 at. So as you can imagine, we’ve been trying to pin the jet-setting style maven down for some time. This month we managed to catch her in-between trips to London and Australia, take a peek inside her artsy home and raid her (very) well-travelled closet.

MY STYLE SECRET

“Invest in designer coats, jackets, shoes and accessories. They transform a look.

“I like to always wear a blazer to smarten up my look, or a glamorous fur in winter. Living in Chelsea in London I love to walk everywhere so my day-to-day shoes are Chanel ballerina pumps.”

BARGAIN HUNTER

“Whenever I travel I love to venture out to the local markets and souks. You can absorb the culture, see real local craftsmanship and find some incredible treasures – be that beautiful, hand-painted ceramics from souk Medina in Marrakesh, or silk pyjamas in Beijing. In Dubai, I think Global Village is fabulous and a bargain hunter’s paradise. I bought some beautiful hand-embellished Indian waistcoats – they were so special and I couldn’t believe the price!”

STYLE ICONS

“Iris Apfel is just so fabulous, even in her nineties. I adore her bold and brave statement accessories. She has the most amazing way of wearing adventurous pieces, thinking outside the box and pulling everything together in such a chic manner.”

TREASURED PIECES

“I treasure my handbag collection that I’ve been collecting since a young age. I have some fabulous Fendi, Gucci, Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags. It’s an evolution of my own personal style and history and a handbag diary of treasured memories. Now it’s so wonderful to add my Peonica London bags to my own collection. I could never spring clean it!”

SHOP STOP

“When shopping I love to find unusual and unique pieces. I adore Notting Hill in London and Le Marais in Paris for vintage shopping and also love to shop in Harajuku in Tokyo – it’s just so quirky and cool. A stop at Chanel, Pucci and Gucci is always essential, too.”

UNIFORM OF CHOICE

“My accessory uniform is Peonica London. I live and breathe my brand every day. I love to add my pom pom charms to all my bags. They add a little bit of fun.”

CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL

“I like to organise my wardrobe by colour and by grouping similar items together. It looks pretty and it makes choosing outfits a pleasure.”

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD OWN

“The elegant and timeless Chanel 2.55 handbag.”

MY DAY-TO-DAY WARDROBE

“Black and white. I love to wear extra large American Apparel cotton T-shirts and have a vast collection of blazers from Fendi, Chanel, Gucci, Celine and Givenchy. My everyday bag is definitely my Peonica London black Tasselbella clutch. It’s super practical and adds a little jazz. I love how the tassels move when I walk.”

BEST FASHION ADVICE

“Know your own shape, filter out unflattering fashion trends and always wear knockout statement accessories.”
