Sometimes nothing but a healthy dose of fromage will do on a Thursday night – and for once we’re not talking cheese and wine. We’re off to relive memories of every wedding reception we’ve ever been to at the Spandau Ballet concert at World Trade Centre. On Friday we’ll be rediscovering our street cred at the reopening of Blue Marlin, and Saturday is all about comfort food at the new, Downtown branch of Fume…
Thursday
Coming over all (New) Romantic at Spandau Ballet
We bought a ticket to the world, and we’re ready to take off tonight. Spandau Ballet are back in Dubai for an intimate gig at World Trade Centre this evening, and we’ll have our lighters ready and our lyrics polished as we let Tony Hadley and co take us back to the ’80s. Altogether now: “Gold!”
Friday
Blue Marlin is back
Now for something a little more contemporary. The mighty Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE reopens this weekend – a sure sign that al fresco season is officially upon us. Let’s just ignore the fact that our sunglasses still fog up the second we step outside. DJs Russ Yallop and Digitaria will man the decks on the terrace, setting the tone for a jam-packed party season ahead. From 1pm to 11pm. Tel (05) 61133400 for guest list and reservations.
Saturday
Checking out Fume Downtown
We’re fans of the comfort food on the menu at the Pier 7 original, and now a second branch of Fume has opened in a prime spot on Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. We’ll be popping in just to check that our fave smoked mackerel pate has made it onto the menu here too.
Pre-Eid grooming
Eid al-Adha is on the horizon, and if you’re heading out of town you’ll want to schedule in a little beauty prep. Save time on the salon ring-round with UAE website Vaniday. Just enter the treatment you’re after and the time that’s convenient, and let Vaniday liaise with the salon for you. All your favourite spots are on there, and the service is free.
