Instilling some Christmas cheer into our homes, popping out for some paella, creating depth and dimension with a sun kissed finish – yes, we’re talking about our hair – and sitting pretty to enjoy a free makeover

Celebrating National Day with a striking mani / pedi

We’re getting into the National Day spirit with a manicure courtesy of OPI’s vivid polishes. There’s OPI Red to remember the bravery of those who made it all happen, OPI Jade because it’s fresh and fun and OPI Alpine Snow which represents harmony and honesty. Colours that are, in fact, appropriate for the whole of the festive season.

Dhs49 each from Wojooh,, Lifestyle, Sephora and all major nail salons

Brightening up our apartments with décor from New Look’s new line of homeware

First it was Zara, then H&M and now another wallet-friendly high street brand has launched a homeware brand. We’ll be hotfooting it to New Look to stock up on cinnamon-scented candles to ensure our homes smelling like Christmas along with pretty candleholders in rose gold. Not, forgetting, of course, the mirrors with speech bubbles. Now that’s got us thinking….

Available from New Look stores nationwide.

Happy Birthday to all of us!

JULIA Milan, Weekend vibes

Savouring the marriage of robust Mediterranean flavours with a paella brunch at Sea Fu

Sea Fu, the chic seafront restaurant at the Four Seasons has launched Valencia Afternoons’ every Friday afternoon so we’ll be gathering our amigos and tucking into mountains of saffron-flavoured paella. A Valencian tradition, a big dish of this rice-based dish – made with olive oil, tomatoes, garlic and peppers with broth, fish and meat – is a centrepiece for exciting dining. But there isn’t a grain of truth (sorry) to the fact that Spaniards drink pitchers of sangria – they can’t stand the stuff. Sea Fu knows this, which is why we’ll be washing down our meal with something sparkling.

The Valencia offering is priced at Dhs350 per person inclusive of one starter, main, dessert and a glass of cava, available on Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4pm. For reservations please contact (04) 2707802.

For reservations call (4) 2707777 or visit for more info.

Getting to the roots of one of the biggest colour trends at Pastels Salon

Mario Charalambous, the go-to hairstylist for the Brit ‘It’ pack, is in town, but for one day only so you better get in on the act fast. If you’ve been dying to try balayage (a French word, of course, meaning to sweep or to paint) then now’s the time as one of Mario’s speciality is contemporary colour. He is, after all, the whizz behind the recent L’Oréal campaign featuring Pixie Geldof and Poppy Delevingne (whose hair was in fine form for her Dubai visit last week).
