Dancing – yes, thanks to last week’s DXBeach we’ve got our mojo back – doing our bit to support Breast Cancer Awareness, enjoying Dubai’s burgeoning art scene, indulging in our favourite picnic in the whole of the UAE and getting our spook on for Halloween!

Wishing Asia Asia Happy first birthday!

 5ART_1745

Tonight we’ll be helping Asia Asia to celebrate a very special birthday by cramming in as many Asian-inspired canapés as we can. The Pier 7 venue will then be laying on live entertainment with a special performance by The Gipsy Man, Mario Reyes. And yes, we will be bopping to classics like Bamboleo, Djobi Djoba & Volare! For more information, visit asia-asia.com

Dancing into the wee hours with world renowned techno DJ Marco Carola

5Provocateur-Dubai-(8)

Once we’ve had our fill of Rumba Flamenca, we’ll be ready for something a little harder. Which is where Provocateur Dubai steps in. Hailing from Napoli in Italy’s south, Marco is the man who helped to put the electronic scene on the map way back in the 90s. His mammoth eight-hour sets are legendary.

Tickets are Dhs300, doors open at 11pm until 3am. Provocateur, Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach Road, call (055) 2118222

Getting our fill of art, design, culture and food at the Ripe Design Market

d3, dubai design district, Weekend Vibes

All our favourite things come together at the Dubai Design District this weekend where our love of local talent is celebrated with pop up shops, jewellery and design workshops – for both children and adults – plus presentations by the makers and designers themselves. All this and a host of live cooking stations – with acoustic music providing the background ambience.

The two-day event runs from 9am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit ripeme.com and designdubaiweek.ae.

From 3.30pm to 5pm at Kite Beach’s main food court area, you can expect DJ’s, kite distributions and tap performances – not to mention top-notch food. Entry is free. Saturday

Filling up on even more culture courtesy of three Emirati artists

5PicMonkey-Collage

Dubai Design Week is fast forcing those naysayers that dare to imply Dubai is lacking in culture to eat their words. We’re not being afforded the opportunity to appreciate three stunning art installations created by talented young Emirati women. Today is your last opportunity to appreciate works by Aljoud Lootah, Latifa Saeed and Talin Hazbar – whose installations are on display at The Beach – and Zeinab Al Hashemi, whose designs can be seen at City Walk. Breathing new life into Dubai’s art scene, these up and coming artists are well worth making the trip for.

The exhibition is open to the public at The Beach, JBR from 10am to10pm and City Walk from 9am to 10pm.

Oohing and aahing at all the fabulous fresh deli foods in our basket at Pik-Nik

 5aWestin-Picnic-085--1

Pik-Nik at The Westin Dubai, Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina has returned and we couldn’t be happier. Because nothing brings a bigger smile to our faces than a basket heaving with cheeses and charcuterie, to be enjoyed with freshly baked breads, beautifully prepared salad jars, pickles and pasties. Families will also love the ever-changing schedule of interactive entertainment for kids – for once you may actually get to enjoy your lunch in peace.

Prices are Dhs390 per basket for a family of two adults and two children (excluding beverages). Beach access is Dhs200 for adults and Dhs125 for kids between 4 and 12. For more information, visit westinminaseyahi.com/pik-nik

DIARY DATES: NOV 4 – 7

pastels, weekend vibes, georges

From Nov 4 to 7, Georges El Mendelek – only one of the most in-demand stylists to the stars – will be at the Ritz Carlton branch of Patels Salon and we can’t wait for him to get his hands on our hair. The go-to stylist for Elissa, he’s also worked his magic on the hosts and contestants of XFactor and Arabs got Talent. We’re expecting a great cut and a ‘big hair’ blow-dry.

For bookings call (04) 3186141 or visit visit pastels-salon.com
