Five days off means five times as much fun, food and relaxation. If you’re not jetting off to foreign shores, here’s how to make the most of your break right here in the UAE…
Wednesday
Getting inspired at a new artisan night market
Blue Orange at the Westin Mina Seyahi has just unveiled a new mid-week market aimed squarely at foodies. On Wednesday nights from 6pm you can browse delicious seasonal produce from Secrets Fine Foods, and if you’re not in the mood to take it home and cook it yourself, just have the pros at Blue Orange do it for you for Dhs195 – which includes Dhs50 back to spend at the market.
Thursday
Singing along with Ellie
Ms Goulding is in town for Dubai Music Week, and will be taking to the stage at Dubai World Trade Centre to perform smash hits like Burn, Love Me Like You Do and Lights tonight. General admission tickets start at Dhs295.
Feeling the breeze at Iris
It’s been a long, sticky road, but the cooler months are finally upon us, and from tonight you can celebrate at one of the best looking terraces in town when the outdoor area at Iris Dubai reopens. The bar is launching a new Sunset happy hour, with special offers on food and drink plus complimentary fresh fruit platters every day of the week from 6pm to 8pm.
Friday
Picnicking at Vida
In keeping with our al fresco theme, we plan to spend our Friday feasting on fresh salads, breads, meats and cheeses poolside at Vida Downtown Dubai’s picnic brunch. To mark Eid, the brunch starts at Dhs195 instead of the usual Dhs295.
Swinging over to Cirkopolis
This is much more reminiscent of Cirque du Soir than your childhood trips to the Big Top. Expect awe-inspiring acrobatics and jaw-dropping stunts when the energetic Cirque Eloize somersaults into town to stage its latest production, Cirkopolis, at Dubai World Trade Centre. Tickets start at Dhs195.
Saturday
Stretching it out at Saadiyat Beach Club
Throwing in picturesque surroundings automatically makes exercise that little bit easier, which is why we’re planning to put in a session at Saadiyat Beach Club. The sunny spot has just teamed up with Abu Dhabi’s Bodytree yoga studio to launch daily classes including Xtend Barre, Bodytree Pilates and Bodytree Body. Sessions cost Dhs94 each.
Brunching at Boca
One of our fave spots in DIFC has unveiled a special package for Eid. Diners can enjoy a selection of hot and cold tapas, main dishes, and a sweet and fruit platter for any three hours between noon and 5pm at Boca. The special brunch starts at Dhs295.
