Eight years after Dubai was confirmed as the city to host the next Expo, the time has finally arrived for Expo 2020 to officially launch.

The first official day of the highly anticipated event is Friday, October 1, 2021, but today, September 30, marks the day of the opening ceremony and it’s set to be nothing short of spectacular.

While being able to watch the opening ceremony in person is strictly invite-only, the event will be live-streamed online, meaning you can watch the extravaganza right from the comfort of your own home.

Starting at 7.30pm, you’ll be able to watch the Expo 2020 Dubai opening ceremony on the official YouTube channel for the event and on virtualexpo.world.

Set to be a showstopping spectacle, Italian opera tenor Andrea Bocelli will take centre stage as one of the headliners of the opening ceremony.

Emirati singer Ahlam Alshamsi and Emirati pianist, composer, musician and singer Hussain Al Jassmi will also take to the stage alongside Bocelli.

Other performers include British singer Ellie Goulding, Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day and internationally renowned pianist Lang Lang.

This year’s Expo theme is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. Laying emphasis on various aspects, this grand-scale event will focus its sub-themes of sustainability, mobility and opportunity.

Expo 2020 Dubai will officially start on October 1, 2021, and will be a six-month-long extravaganza ending on March 31, 2022. The timings are from Saturday to Wednesday, 10am to 12am and Thursday and Friday 10am to 2am.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store for this six-month-long mega-event.
