As the UAE continues to lead the way when it comes to COVID-19 vaccination numbers, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced an update when it comes to attending large events across the country.

From Sunday, June 6, 2021, you’ll need to have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend sport, cultural, social and art events. A COVID-19 PCR negative test result will also be required 48 hours prior to attending the scheduled event.

UAE residents will also need to have an active letter ‘E’ on the national COVID-19 tracing app, AL Hosn, in order to attend such events.

“Attending all events, exhibitions, activities and events, including sports, cultural, social and art, is restricted to vaccine recipients and participants in the vaccine clinical trials only,” the NCEMA stated in their update.

In a COVID-19 briefing, Dr Farida Al Hosani confirmed that 78.11 per cent of those who are eligible to receive the vaccine have done so.

At present, the UAE is the world leader in vaccine distribution rates.

“We are pleased to announce that #UAE is at the top of vaccine distribution rate, becoming the first country in vaccine distribution per 100 people worldwide,” the NCEMA said.

“This achievement is a testament to the success of the national vaccination campaign and the country’s proactive approach to achieving a sustainable recovery.”
