His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced six stunning new projects in Dubai’s mountainous region of Hatta.

The first of the projects include the ‘Dubai Mountain Peak’ which will reach an altitude of 1,300 metres and the ‘Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls’, both of which will be implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

The four other projects include the creation of 504km-long chairlifts, a world-class hotel, hiking trails to the highest peak in the emirate, which is Jebel Umm Al Nisourt at 1,300 metres, and the establishment of 200 holiday homes.

His Highness also shared a video to Twitter outlining stunning new developments in the Hatta region.

Highlighting the project which began in 2016, Sheikh Mohammed outlined in a statement that tourism in the region has increased exponentially. Furthermore, the new projects will provide 500 jobs for those in Hatta.

“The new holiday homes will provide an annual income of more than Dh100 million for the people of the region,” he added. “A decent life for our citizens will remain our goal in all our projects.”

He went on to note that the city of Hatta is a “model for small cities in the region”.

“It has turned within a short period of time into one of the most important tourist destinations in the emirate, thanks to its different lifestyle,” he continued. “The development and tourism projects in Hatta will have a significant impact on promoting national tourism and providing a distinctive tourism and cultural experience for visitors and the community.”

In recent years, more and more retreats and hotels have been opening in the Hatta region. One of the latest ones to open is the luxurious holiday homes known as Hatta Terrace, which offer refined escapism from the busy city.
