With international disputes in Russia at an all-time high – all fingers are still pointing at Vladimir Putin over the Malaysia Airlines tragedy – it may seem like a bad time to go to the country’s capital, Moscow, but no so according to Donatella Versace. The fashion mogul has opened a new Versace boutique in the city.
The new boutique, which opened opened at No. 12 Stoleshnikov Lane in Moscow, was conceived by Donatella Versace in collaboration with the English architect Jamie Fobert. Chic, sleek and streamlined with tasteful accents of the brand’s signature gold, the 250sqm space is one of Versace’s most sophisticated.
Blending the opulent and traditional architectural values renowned in Italy, the boutique is awash with stunning marble floor mosaics – inspired by Byzantine churches of the ninth Century – while brass and perspex create a luxurious and contemporary ambience for the Versace prêt-à-porter collections and accessories for men and women.
“I just adore the design concept of the new Versace Stores, which pays tribute to Italy’s cultural heritage,” said Donatella Versace, creative director of Versace. “In fulfilling this project Jamie Fobert has created a space in which the new Versace spirit can take flight. For me the boutique suggests an uninterrupted dialogue between our past and our future, between me and Jamie Fobert and obviously between Versace and our clients.”

While Jaime Forbert is illustrious for his art and residential work, he has also worked on several retail projects including Givenchy and Versace in Paris, and Selfridges in Oxford Street, London.
To celebrate Versace’s new boutique opening on Stoleshnikov Lane, Moscow, Russia, Donatella Versace has designed a limited edition of the iconic Signature bag – Чао Versace (Ciao Versace). Чао Versace is the epitome of luxury and glamour with an artisan touch, embellished with gold studs and trimmed with hand-woven leather. These details enhance the key motifs that have made the Signature such a classic.

The Чао Versace bag is available in calfskin in black and white or in precious python skin in gold. It also comes in colour-blocked hues and materials, combining calf, python and pony skin. Each exclusive piece within the special edition will bear a detachable leather tag inscribed in gold Чао Versace.
