As described by the Maison itself, Valentino’s latest Haute Couture collection for Fall/Winter 2021 “brings art into conversation with fashion, transmuting surfaces, animating works into motion”.

Creative director of the Maison, Pierpaolo Piccioli, paid homage to the city of Venice with the collection entitled ‘Valentino Des Ateliers’ as it was presented the Gaggiandre at the Arsenale in the Italian city.

Piccioli continues to take a fresh, young stance on each collection, as he has done since he joined the Maison in 2008.

Echoing this youthful sentiment Valentino’s creative director continues to bring to the brand, Piccioli collaborated with 16 contemporary artists – Joel S. Allen, Anastasia Bay, Benni Bosetto, Katrin Bremermann, Guglielmo Castelli, Maurizio Cilli, Danilo Correale, Luca Coser, Jamie Nares, Francis Offman, Andrea Respino, Wu Rui, Sofia Silva, Alessandro Teoldi, Patricia Treib and Malte Zenses (with inspiration from Kerstin Bratsch) – for the latest couture collection.

Pops of bold colours combined with sculptural silhouettes, grandiose ball gowns, floating feather hats and elaborate capes created the essence of this new couture collection, embodying the connection between fashion and art.

As the Maison describes, “Fashion is linked to the body and to movement. Art, however, is completely free from constraint.”
