Mix it up and make it Taco Thursday

Sure, that picture is of a burrito, but go with it. We wanted to alliterate. This is the last weekend you can take advantage of Loca’s summer special of 20 per cent off all food and drink – it ends September 15. Margaritas and guacamole to end the week? We’ll see you there. (They also do unlimited margaritas for ladies from 7pm on Wednesdays. Just as a small FYI.)

Loca, Dubai Marine Beach Hotel & Spa and Souk Al Bahar Downtown Dubai, daily 12pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 346 1111, (04) 449 4455. locauae.com

Kick your weekend off right

You can’t get much more virtuous than a free workout on a Thursday night. Saving money and exercising? Look at you go. At The Park put on group classes every week, and this Thursday it’s kickboxing at Al Barsha Pond Park. Be there for 7.30pm.

Try some layered lashes

At the risk of making them so busy we can’t get an appointment anymore, we’ve found a truly excellent spot for Russian eyelash extensions. Unlike the work of salons we’ve seen before, these lashes are soft, natural and believable – we asked for subtlety, and had colleagues say we just looked great, but they couldn’t put their finger on what was different. Dream result. They last up to a month, too, with refill options priced weekly. If you’ve got big plans tonight, set aside an hour for an appointment here. These are occasion lashes.

Russian layering lashes full set, Dhs650. Bedashing Beauty, 18A-06 Citywalk Boulevard, Dubai. Tel: 600 560 037. bedashingbeauty.com

Take brunch to a very Latin-American place

Waka have a new Fiesta Latina Brunch on offer, and it features Brazilian carnival dancers. Get excited. There’s also truffle quinoa risotto, spare ribs, and pisco sours on offer, if the food and beverages is more your scene. The best part? Packages start at Dhs200. That’s an affordable afternoon.

The Latin Fiesta Brunch at Waka, The Oberoi Dubai, Al A’amal Street, Business Bay. 12-4.30pm. Dhs200-495 dependent on beverage choice. Tel: (04) 444 1444. oberoihotels.com
