CLOUD NINE – Alexandria Gouveia, Online Editor

Up And Coming Dubai Local Designers

What’s not to love about this statement skirt? It’s made from silk organza (fancy), it’s a great length (culturally appropriate) and the fun, whimsical print is the closest I’ll ever get to feeling like I’m walking on clouds. Sold! Round of applause to House of Fatam, set up by Emirati sisters Lamya, Shaima and Fatma Gargash. Skirt Dhs1,350 House of Fatam

POWER BAG – Jade Sprowson, Style Director

Designed by a business woman for business women, Saudi-born Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud has created a stunning yet smart collection of bags. Think magnetic sides, easy-access iPad-sized pockets and passport slots, all in dreamy colour palettes and exotic snakeskin. Oh, and we forgot to mention that it’s inspired by powerful women in the industry; think fashion hero Caroline Issa and Reema herself.

EAR CANDY – Kerry McDermott, Deputy Editor

I’m not a big jewellery girl. My watch and the occasional delicate necklace are all I need, accessory-wise. But something about these Yasmineh earrings’ statement shape and gold/silver combo caught my eye. Bold without being OTT, they’re just the right amount of attention-grabbing. Worth re-piercing my ears for.

REBEL YELL – Olivia Phillips, Fashion Features Editor

When getting dressed, I often ask myself, WWKD? To the uninitiated, that’s What Would Keith Do? – Keith in this instance referring to a certain Mr Richards of Rolling Stone fame. Strong of both spirit and swagger (and, incidentally, of liver), I’m sure he’d swathe himself in something similar to this red leo abaya from my new favourite UAE brand, Tales of Rebels.

HATS OFF  – Carmel Gill, Stylist

Hand painted and designed by Dubai resident Tarsila Schubert, this one-of-a-kind hat will probably remain firmly on my head for the rest of the summer. With its wide brim and quirky design, it’s my new go-to for stylish beach days. Tarsila has recently launched a ready-to-wear line as well. Talented lady.

THE FUTURE’S BRIGHT – Kerri Bennett, Art Editor

I defy anyone to put this swishy, neon skirt on and not raise smiles wherever they go. The perfect balance of ladylike and fearless, it sums up everything I love about rising brand Poca & Poca.
