Lights, fire crackers, rangoli (bright colour designs), family, food and presents are the ideal concoctions for a heady Diwali

Diwali is a time for celebration,  a celebration of light, to be exact. In hindu mythology it tells the tale of Lord Rama and his wife Sita returning to their kingdom, in Northern Indian, from exile after defeating demon king Ravana. The festival, which runs from November 11 to 15, is a celebration of light over darkness. Coinciding with Hindu New Year, it is seen as a new beginning.

During this period fireworks are common as is gift giving. This Diwali, when it comes to treating loved ones, don’t restrict yourself to traditional gifts like diyas (Indian word for oil lamps) and mithai (Indian sweets). We’ve sourced the best present ideas out there, so you and your gift can light up a smile on your pampered one.
