The United Kingdom has updated its approved COVID-19 vaccine list and it’s set to make travel for UAE residents over the festive period a lot easier.

In early October, those who had been fully vaccinated with Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Moderna and Janssen were able to travel quarantine-free to the UK from the UAE, but several vaccinations were left off the list meaning many expats would have had difficulty travelling.

However, in a recent announcement, this has all changed.

From November 22, the UK will recognise additional vaccines, including Sinopharm Beijing, allowing for quarantine-free travel. The seven approved vaccines are as follows:

  • Pfizer BioNTech
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca
  • Moderna
  • Janssen
  • Sinovac
  • Sinopharm Beijing
  • Covaxin

The UAE embassy UK also outlined that in order to travel individuals must have had their final dose of an approved vaccine 14 days prior to entering the country.

“All fully vaccinated travellers must also complete a passenger locator form and take a day 2 test,” the embassy also added.

The news will definitely be welcomed by many who are intending to travel to the UK over the Christmas period.
