Enjoy the catch of the day
If you’ve got a seafood fiend to impress or cheer up, here’s your option. Creekside terrace NOÉPE, in the Park Hyatt, is offering two glasses of premium sparkling and its signature seafood platter for Dhs395 every evening. Make the most of these mild evenings and enjoy some oysters and lobster while you’re at it. This is a little more upscale than happy hour.
Fisherman’s catch at NOÉPE, The Promenade, Park Hyatt Dubai, Dubai Creek. Daily 5-8pm, 6.30-8pm Fridays. Dhs395 for two glasses of premium sparkling and seafood platter. Tel: (04) 602 1234. hyatt.com.
See a rap legend
Our next weekend idea needs no introduction, really. Diddy is an American music heavyweight, and he’s performing in Dubai for the first time ever this week. If you’ve ever wanted to party like a rapper, here’s your chance. We’re thinking this is going to be the place to be on Thursday night.
Diddy at Gotha Dubai, Radisson Blu Dubai Waterfront, Business Bay, April 5, 11pm to 3am. Dhs350 for ladies, Dhs700 for guys. Tel: (055) 1 934 934. gothaclubdubai.com.
Friday April 6
Try a new home-grown cafe
We’ve spoken about new Jumeirah Beach Road opening Tania’s Teahouse at greater length over here, but it absolutely deserves a spot in your weekend too. If you like the sound of a habib-tea pun and some mermaid toast, this is going to be your second home. Do it for the ‘gram if nothing else.
Tania’s Teahouse, 779a Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim, Dubai. 8am-10pm Sunday to Wednesday, 8am-12am Thursday to Saturday. Tel: (050) 558 1228. taniasteahouse.com.
Celebrate the Spanish city of Seville
The Andalusian capital of Seville is the home of flamenco dancing, so you know their festival is going to be a good time. Dubai Creek spot Casa de Tapas is celebrating Feria de Abril over two days this weekend, and we have to say, it sounds like a party. Think paella, sangria, and churros – what else could you want from a Friday brunch? Head on down and honour your most-used emoji in style.
Feria de Abril at Casa de Tapas, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Dubai Creek. Brunch 12.30-4pm, after-brunch party 4-6pm, evening brunch 8.30-11pm. Packages from Dhs299, children’s packages available. Tel: (04) 416 1800. dubaigolf.com.
Saturday April 7
Get up high
Here’s one for the JBR locals among us. Pure Sky Lounge has a new Saturday offer to help you close off your weekend in style. Expect beverages from Dhs35 and an electric violinist – on top of the usual gorgeous views of the Arabian Gulf. This should be a fun one.
Saturday Vibes at Pure Sky Lounge, Hilton The Walk, JBR, Dubai. Saturdays 6-8pm. Tel: (o4) 374 7888.
Take the family out for lunch
This Incan eatery is beloved citywide, and now they’ve launched a family lunch deal on Saturdays to close your weekend off nicely. They’re promising an afternoon full of sweet surprises, a children’s menu, and free meals for under 12s. If you’ve got family in town, or want to catch up with the broader crew, this is a great way to do it.
Coya, Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah, Dubai. Tel: (04) 316 9600. coyarestaurant.com.
And one for your diary…
Here’s one you won’t want to miss. Join weightlifter Amna Al Haddad, and adventurer Elham Al Qasimi, both from the UAE, and Saudi footballer Saja Kamal for a talk on the Middle East’s gender revolution. As you’d expect with that stellar lineup, it’s all about how women’s sports are changing, the victories that have been won and the change that’s yet to come. We can’t wait.
Ladies with Zest, Cove Beach, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Beach Road. April 9, 11am-2pm. Dhs300 per person, lunch and beverages included. Tel: (050) 688 2308.
