In a bid to spread positivity and teach some lessons in a kind way, police in the UAE capital have been giving out flowers to traffic violators.

Sharing a video on social media, the Abu Dhabi Police revealed the initiative was called ‘Hand in Hand’.

Instead of issuing fines after pulling over motorists for speeding, cops were giving roses. But the main aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of road safety, helping to correct wrongdoings on the road in a slightly different way than the public will be used to.

Along with the flowers, an informative but short lecture is given by the policeman at hand briefing them about road safety and the need to be aware when driving on the busy roads in the UAE.

Discussing the initiative, Lt Colonel Saif Mohammed Al Ameri, deputy director of the Traffic and Patrols Department in Al Ain, explained it was all about “educating motorists”.

“This initiative is aimed at enhancing awareness among drivers by educating them about the importance of safe driving by adhering to traffic rules and regulations to avoid accumulating traffic violations,” he said.
