‘Until further notice’

As the fight against coronavirus continues, preventative measures in order to combat the spread of the virus are ongoing.

In the latest development of measures taken in the UAE, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing confirmed all restaurants, bars and event organisers will be closed “until further notice”.

This also includes cafes, pools, private beaches, fitness and health centre and all entertainment facilities. Similarly, as strict social distancing rules are still in place, all events are also still suspended.

In terms of restaurants, delivery is still permitted, and eateries in hotels are allowed to serve guests staying in the complex.

At present, all Dubai residents are to stay home as the national sterilisation programme is taking place 24 hours a day.

People are only permitted to leave their homes for essential reasons which include groceries and pharmacy visits. However, a movement permit is required for all movements, and residents face up to fines of Dhs3,000 if caught without a permit.

So far there has been 5,365 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UAE — 1,034 people have recovered, and there has been 33 deaths.
