See a movie under the stars
Now that summer’s behind us, West 14th Steakhouse on The Palm is picking back up its outdoor cinema nights. This Thursday, you’ll find family favourite Shrek Ever After at 6.30pm, and US mystery-crime drama Now You See Me at 8pm. Both films are free to watch, and you can purchase drinks and snacks on the night.
West 14th, Oceana Beach Club, Palm Jumeirah, 6.30pm and 8pm, free. Tel: (04) 447 7601. west14th.ae.
Try out a new workout spot
Fairmont The Palm has just opened its new fitness studio, with a jam-packed timetable of classes to go along with it. There’s yoga, HIIT, Muay Thai and more on offer throughout the week, but on Thursday nights you find spinning (7pm), meditation (8pm) and aqua spin (6.45pm).
Fairmont The Palm, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, Dhs75 per class, or Dhs500 for a 10-class package. Tel: (04) 457 3330. fairmont.com.
Friday 13
Have a shop around in the sun
After a long, hot summer, Ripe Market is finally back outdoors. The foodie favourite will welcome back all its usual organic produce, street food and artisanal craft stalls in Zabeel Park, so spend the morning having a wander and a nibble after months spent cooped up in the air-con.
Reipe Market, Gate 2, Zabeel Park, Dubai, Fridays 9am to 3pm, Dhs5 entry.
Get a mani, make a difference
To support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tips and Toes salons are helping fund the chemotherapy treatment of UAE-based breast cancer patient, Nahla Sherif. And you can take part – if you book a signature mani/pedi (Dhs205) and 30-minute head, neck and shoulder massage (Dhs70), a portion of the price will go towards Sherif’s treatment (so your weekend pamper will help change someone’s life).
Campaign running at all Tips & Toes branches throughout October. Tel: (04) 399 0550. tipsandtoes.com.
Saturday 14
Indulge in a super-stylish high tea
A jewellery box stuffed with pastries, cakes and assorted sweets? Now those are our kind of accessories – and that’s what you’ll find at the Shangri-La’s new Jewellery Box High Tea. The golden treasure chest of treats is designed to be shared by two (but we might just have to have one each…).
Dunes Café, Shangri-La Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, daily 1pm to 6pm, Dhs180 per person. Tel: (04) 405 2703. shangri-la.com.
Check out a dreamy pop-up
Bulgari is taking inspiration from 1960s cinema in its new limited-edition collections, and you can see the stunning pieces in person at the luxury label’s new pop-up in The Dubai Mall. We’re particularly swooning over three special-edition Divas’ Dream bags, which will be available only at the event (and they even have the word Dubai engraved inside). Sounds like we might need a “treat ourselves” day…
Fashion Catwalk, Ground Floor, The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai, pop-up open until October 24. Tel: (04) 330 8834. thedubaimall.com.
