Check out a brand new Friday brunch

The party people from Candypants are bringing a brand new brunch to the Maiden Shanghai in the chic FIVE Palm Jumeirah. Launching today, Dim Sum Disco is described as a “boutique party brunch concept”, featuring an a la carte offering of modern Asian dishes as well as house beverages, selected signature cocktails and free-flowing bubbly. Maiden Shanghai also has its own karaoke room, so you know you’re in for a good time.

Enjoy a coffee and chocolate tasting

Is there a better combination? Homegrown chocolate makers Mirzam are hosting an hour-long tasting, pairing and making workshop this evening. You’ll sample coffee beans brewed by Zero Four Specialty Coffee and paired with handcrafted single origin chocolate. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be a coffee and chocolate expert. Oh, and as a side note, you HAVE to try Mirzam’s brownies from The Brownie Outpost… you’ll find these at the Bay Avenue Farmers Market every Friday.

In collaboration with the US Embassy in the UAE, Cinema Akil presents Fierce, an American film showcase celebrating the strength and power of women. This evening’s film is Custody, starring Viola Davis and Hayden Panettiere, which centres around the story of a hard-working single mother who has her children taken away from her.
