Thursday 3

Go on a shopping spree at D3

As if Dubai Design District wasn’t cool enough already, there’s a three-hour “happy hour” taking place between 5pm and 8pm, with great discounts across fashion, art and food. We’ll be checking out the new “Japanese lifestyle culture shop” Frame, where you can enjoy a free coffee or mint lemonade while browsing their urban clothing collections, as well as 15 per cent off anything you buy.

Various locations, Dubai Design District, Sun to Thurs 5pm to 8pm. Tel: 056 831 3520. More info on website.

Try the new menu at the world’s highest restaurant

Visitors in town you need to impress? Why not take them to At.mosphere, the restaurant located on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa. This fine-dining spot has just launched a new five-course market menu, with an array of delectable-sounding dishes (think slow-cooked duck breast accompanied by cherry, vanilla, foie gras and pear… mmm). With those magical views, you’re guaranteed a memorable night.

Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, 6pm to 11.30pm. Market menu Dhs495 per person. Tel: (04) 888 3828. More info on website.

Friday 4

See an Arab singing star

Yemeni singer Balqees Fathi is one of the Arab world’s biggest names in music, and she’s bringing her beautiful voice to the Mall of the Emirates tonight for a free concert, as part of Dubai Summer Surprises. Shopping and a show – don’t mind if we do…

Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, Friday 9pm, free. Tel: (04) 409 9000. More info on website.

Enjoy dinner with a side of sass

Looking for somewhere fun to catch up with the girls? Sass Cafe has relaunched its weekend “Sassy Dinner”, combining French cuisine with a live band, resident DJ, and some classic Monte Carlo glamour. Just be prepared for the moment late in the evening when the tables are swept away, and a dance floor opens up for you to party the night away. PS. Dress code is “sassy chic”.

Al Fattan Currency House, DIFC, Thurs and Fri, 7pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 352 7722. More info on website.

Saturday 5

Indulge in a very British breakfast

Not many things make us excited to roll out of bed on a Saturday morning, but Reform Social & Grill’s new weekend breakfast menu sure does. The British gastropub is serving up everything from traditional fry-ups to buckwheat pancakes. There’s also a British Bakery section, with classics like English muffins, buttered crumpets, teacakes and tattie scones. It’s the most important meal of the day, so why not treat yourself?

Reform Social & Grill, The Lakes, Dubai, Friday and Saturday 8am to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 454 2638. More info on website.

Get a relaxing head massage (oh, and perhaps a haircut too)

ted morgan salon

Ted Morgan isn’t a new salon, but we’re sure we’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem. Why? They give what we’re dubbing the World’s Most Heavenly Salon Head Massage (which they should probably trademark right now), which is so much more than the standard scalp rub at the end of your haircut colour. The women at this spa obviously know you’ve been slogging it out all week at work and are in desperate need of some TLC, because this head massage lasts for about 20 minutes – and will include a neck and shoulder rub if you’re lucky.

Ted Morgan Hair Salon, Jumeirah Town Centre, Dubai, Sat to Thu 10am to 10pm, Fri 1.30pm to 10pm, haircuts from Dh280. Tel: (04) 344 5234. tedmorganhair.com.
