Think of any major fashion trend you’ve ever followed (and more than a few that you haven’t) and we guarantee that you saw it first in a music video. Style and song are inextricably linked and so it’s no surprise that a brand such as Coach has decided to celebrate the relationship between the two.

For 75 years, the luxury American fashion brand has been inspired by the sounds of New York City and the legendary performers who got their big break in iconic venues such as Cafe Wha?, CBGB, and The Apollo.

In September 2014, the brand launched Coach Backstage, a campaign focusing on noteworthy bands and artists who reflect the independent, dynamic attitude and spirit of Coach. The first concert was, of course, in New York City and featured performances by Zoe Kravitz’s band Lolawolf and Banks.

Since then Coach has incorporated music into fashion events around the world, featuring artists such as Kid Cudi, Skyler Grey and Debbie Harry.

Now, Dubai’s vibrant music culture and love of fashion provides the perfect venue for Coach’s latest installment of #CoachBackstage, and who better to headline the gig than style icon and friend of the brand, Tinie Tempah.

Tinie Tempah will be headlining the Coach Backstage concert in Dubai

The British singer will be the main act at a music event, which will also star DJ Bliss, on April 8, at Fort Island Madinat Jumeirah. The concert also celebrates the opening of the newest Coach store at The Dubai Mall.

No stranger to the region, it was only last year that Tinie Tempah was in the UAE to film the video for his single Flash. From playing football on the beach to cruising down Dubai Marina on a yacht, the artist used Dubai as his glamorous backdrop.

While he is renowned for his chart-topping hits, Tempah is also a favourite among the celebrity fashion crowd, regularly spotted front row at London Collections (formerly Men’s Fashion Week). In fact, he was spotted in the FROW at the Coach autumn/winter 2016 show this January with model Edie Campbell.

A loyal friend of the brand, last year Tinie Tempah was seen rubbing shoulders with fellow stylish celebrities at a Coach party in London hosted by Executive Creative Director Stuart Vevers, who has helped revamp the image of Coach into a modern and luxurious accessories brand.

Tinie Tempah will be performing live at the Coach Backstage concert on April 8, at Fort Island Madinat Jumeirah.
