Liberated and modern

Tima Abid’s first show at Paris couture fashion week was full of surprises.

From elements of transparency and short silhouettes, to figure-hugging shapes and light fabrics, the collection felt like a breath of fresh air when comparing to other couture lines that were presented by Arab designers last week.

The pieces flowed down the runway, but don’t let their delicate personality fool you, these dresses and gowns were made for fierce and confident women who want to stand out for all the right reasons. To feel liberated, just like the butterflies seen across some of the designs.

The wedding dress was a real showstopper, offering something completely different from the heavily beaded gowns that we have seen slowly move down the runways at some of the other shows. The fitted gown featured a low neckline, styled with intricately designed cape and a short veils positioned on the models head with long hair pins, reminiscent of Japanese kanzashi hair ornaments.

Held in an elegant setting of the Four Seasons Hotel George V hotel, guests included singer Assala Nasri and members of the Al Saud royal family, with Tunisian singer Omayma Taleb opening the show.
