NARS Spring 2015 Campaign Image_Tilda Swinton

She’s already modelled for the likes of Chanel and Italian jewellery brand Pomellato so it’s no surprise make-up powerhouses Nars have snapped up Scottish actress Tilda Swinton to be the face of their new spring 2015 campaign.Transformed into an ethereal character with a black ruffled neckpiece the photographs feature the quirky mother of two in a series of four portraits with perfected skin and intense eyeliner photographed by Founder and Creative Director, François Nars, with each image showcasing one of four new collections that will launch from the brand.

Known for his rule breaking approach to beauty the make-up artist, who is of French origin, revealed he chose Tilda Swinton to front his latest campaign because of her signature beauty and unparalleled character. “As a photographer, working with an actress like Tilda is very enjoyable,” said Nars.  “She is a living legend. I love her bold style and really admire her work. As an actress, she brings such strong personality to the camera. And as a woman, she lives the experience of transformation and expression. She was the perfect choice for Nars.”

Ever the trendsetter, previous campaign stars chosen by Francois include Naomi Campbell, Jessica Lange and even Marc Jacobs, who previously posed for the photographer wearing glossy red lipstick and red nails. An iconic figure in the beauty world François Nars, who celebrated the 20th anniversary of his brand this year, was one of the key players in the rise of the 1990s supermodels and made his name working backstage at fashion weeks around the world before launching his own eponymous range. Now rarely seen in the flesh he prefers to spend time on his island, Motu Tane, in Polynesia but he did make a comeback in September of this year where he oversaw the make-up look for Marc Jacobs’ personal line.
