Hottest accessory for the party season?
For many years gloves were considered a winter necessity, rather than a fashion statement. But look back in history and you see that this accessory had a much more meaningful purpose. From making a sartorial declaration, to adding glamour to a Hollywood red carpet, the humble glove has plenty to offer.

Over the past few seasons, more designers have put gloves at the core of their collections. Gucci, Fendi, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana have sent models down the runways in leather, tulle, satin, elbow-length gloves and styled them with everything from coats, dresses and even jeans and a T-shirts.
One regional brand that’s celebrating the glove in all it’s decadent glory is a Saudi Arabian label Alaa Bint Hashim. Founded by cultural consultant, art director, and illustrator Alaa Balkhy, all of the vintage-inspired sheer gloves are handmade to order in Jeddah and sold on OTKUTYR Fashion House.

Alaa Balkhy splits her time between Jeddah and New York, and loves browsing vintage stores that make up most of her wardrobe. Her first collection, that also includes ready-to-wear, was a tribute to her hometown. The pieces are vibrant and youthful, but it’s the delicate gloves that steal the show.
Whether you’re headed to a black tie gala, the office, or you simply want to spice up your life with an unexpected accessory, gloves are your answer.
